What’s SEO and Why you Must DO it?

SEO from my point of view is simply tricking the search engines and finding a way to rank a website on the first page of Google as well as other popular search engines. It’s not a compulsion to follow these SEO tricks but it’s always good to know how do search engines rank websites. If you are new to SEO then you might have few questions like “If i’m not following these SEO tips then can’t i rank on the first page of Google ? “.I’ll answer all those type of questions at the end of this article.

Keywords Are Not Important to Rank

You heard me ? Yes,keywords are not so important for you to rank on search engines. If you are going to publish an article on your website for a keyword  which no one is going to search for then surely you are going to rank on the top even if you are not following any SEO tips. But on the other side if you have chosen a keyword for which you are going to have a heavy competition then these SEO tips will come in handy.
It’s easy to rank for a less competitive keyword which has several searches every month. To know these kind of statistics i would suggest you to use “Google Adwords“.In order to use the Adwords service you must register with them.Don’t worry it’s free to register there.

How to Write a SEO Optimized Article ?

Once you have selected your keywords make sure your keyword is somehow placed in the title of your article.Three most important things that every newbie bloggers would neglect are the labels, permalink and the search description. If you are using the free blogspot then you can see them under the “Post settings”.

Permalink is nothing but the link which you would see after publishing the post.Having a keyword on the link would help you to rank better on Google.Remember the words such as “how,to,as,is,and,or,of,on,at,for etc” are simply neglected by google and there’s no need to add these kinds of words in your link. You can see how i had configured the permalink by eliminating the unnecessary words that aren’t valued by Google.

Search description plays a role with search engine optimization. For example whenever your are searching for something on Google’s search then you would have noticed two lines of description under every websites post. These lines are automatically fetched from your article but if you feel like you want to display different description then use the “Search description” option. For example the below screen shot displays few description about the post i had searched.

But,If you read my article on how to increase Facebook likes and Youtube subscribers you would no where find the words being displayed inside the article. This particular SEO tip has helped me a lot for ranking my post on search engines.

Length of your Article does Relates with SEO

When you are blogging at the beginning typing a lengthy article with 100 words might look a bit difficult for you but each and every word that you use in your article does count in the view of search engines. It is said that having an article of 500+ words do rank well in search engines.Yes that’s true sometimes but writing a unique content which no one has ever discovered would rank at the top even if it has less than 100 words.

Placing your keywords inside the lengthy article is a good idea to make your article as a SEO optimized one.I would suggest you to include keywords 3 times for every 300 words which means if you are writing an article with 1000 words then you must have placed your keywords around 10 times. This would be a good practice if you are not stuffing your keywords. To know the number of words you have used and the number of times you have repeated your keywords use wordcounter website.

SEO Tips Applies for Images Too

If you are writing an article for example “Obama’s victory celebration” then you would have included images related to Obama’s celebration. This type of articles would be searched a lot on Google images. But have you optimized your images to list the image on the top of the search ?Google doesn’t have magical powers to identify the name of your image you are linking inside your article. You must specify the name by yourself and that’s very easy to do.Use tag inside your image and give it a name.If you are using Blogspot then click on the image => properties , specify names for both the “Title text” and “Alt text”.

Title text is for the users, when someone hovers their mouse over the image then the title text would be displayed.Alt text is for the reference of search engines and the users cannot see it.It would be good if you include your keywords inside the “Alt text”.

Covering Off-Page SEO Tips

Off-page SEO are not practiced by professional bloggers because their website gets those optimization automatically. If you are working good with the above on-page SEO tips then there is no need to worry about the Off-page SEO.But incase if you are a beginner then i would reveal you few off-page SEO tricks that i had used earlier during my blogging career.
Link-Building

Link building is a smart way to quickly increase your websites page rank as well as it can bring you tons of traffic.I never used any kind of tools and i also suggest you not to seek auto link building tools. If you are never heard of link building then let me tell you that link building is a way by which you are building plenty of incoming links to your website from other websites. There are many ways to do link building but the legit ways i used are
  1. Guest Posting
  2. Blog Commenting
  3. Sharing links on Social networks
  4. Submitting articles to web directories
Guest posting is nothing but you will be writing a post for someone’s website where your link will be placed at the bottom of the post.To write a guest post for my website refer the guest post tab on the top.Getting legit guest post on your website will also help you to publish new contents on your website.Refer the article on how to get legit guest posts for your blog.
Blog commenting was very helpful few months back but most of the comments are no-follow nowadays but try to comment on other websites post and link your article inside the comment. That could bring you a good amount of traffic and subscribers.
Sharing links on social networks can be useful to rank on Google because nowadays Google is ranking posts which has a good number of shares in Google plus.Stumbleupon is my favorite website that used to bring me a lot of traffic. To increase traffic to your article you must refer this article on increasing traffic overnight.
Submitting articles to web directories is one of the best way to rank your website. When you submit your articles to several high authorized web directories you have several high authorized backlinks pointing towards your website.

  1. Thanks for this blog..me also believe that in creating a blog/content we need to pick a right Keyword to put in a Title that can attract the readers….to be able for them to read the content.

  2. firstly, thanks for this helpful article..but i am little confuse about search description .. i am using my long tail keywords in this section but you are telling something different then pl tell exactly what should i follow??

    1. right click and select inspect element on that link, if you find rel=”nofollow” or “external nofollow” then it is nofollow. To make it more simple use no-follow plugin in chrome then it displays all the no follow links in a website with red dots.
